Livestream Session Notes for Thursday, July 16 2020

Session Theme: Emerson poem, 2nd stanza.

Last Tuesday, we read the first stanza of the poem below by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The stanzas work together, but also stand alone in marvelous fashion.

“Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with your old nonsense.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

The takeaway? Have a short memory. If you dwell on yesterday⏤your mistakes, your should haves, could haves⏤you rob yourself of this moment. You rob yourself of peace, clarity, peak performance, being fully present for others.
